[[underline]]DAVY ROCKETTE & DANIEL GOONE--PIONEERS OF SPACE[[end underline]] By Gerrod Delegaetz [[left illustration text]] GERR [[right illustration text]] HEH HEH [[main text]] Daniel Goone, the big bafoon, 'ill be in soon, most likely at noon from Neptune's first moon," snapped Davy Rockette. "Won't he be surprised to find me here? For thirty years I've been beating that punk to Planets. Ever since that day in 2100, when we both took off from Earth for Mars. Poor old Goone went to Mars, but I fooled him and went to Jupiter, and ever since he's been one planet behind me! When he got to Jupiter we both left for Saturn, but I did it again---I went right on past to Uranus. Goone popped up two years later, hot as a fried space pirate. We made a truce, and a year later we took off for Neptune. That's right, I done went and did it again! And here I am on Pluto. I can hardly wait--Mr. Daniel Q. Goone is due in another hour! "Amazing My Dear Rockette", exclaimed a pudgy little mess sitting in the corner of the Plutoina Turkish bath. "Elimentry my dear Potson," bragged the tall Gawky, or should I say chalky Mr. Rockette. * * * * * "it won't be long now," bubbled daniel Goone, lava overflowing with hot words from his mouth. "If I ever get my hands on that*()'&$%"#$%&(Censored)*&7_5**, I'll bust him into so many pieces that Dick Tracy, Charlie Chan, Mr. Moto, Perry Mason, Philo Vance, Ellery Queen, Sherlock Holmes, Nick Carter, Dan Dunn, The Lone Ranger, Superman, Marvel Man, Bulletman, Hydro-man, Hour Man, Hawk Man, Phantasmo, Supermind & Son, The Green Hornet, The Blue Beetle, The Red Bee, The Black Condor, Mr. Scarlet, The Green Lantern, The Ray, The Shadow, The Owl, The Shield, The Flash, Neon the Unknown, Robin the Boy Wonder, Samson, Stardust, Flame, Flash Gordon, Flash Lightning, Mandrake, Captain Future, Captain Marvel, Buck Rogers, Iron Vic, Hercules, John Carter, Adam Link, Carson Napier, Tarzen, Hok, Horsesence Hank, Lancelot Biggs, John Hale, The Lab. Sleuth, The Radio Man, Dr. Penwing, The Golden Amazon, Pete Manx, or Doc Savage, all combined could put him back together! Phew--" "Whatcha so steamed?" questioned Goone's best friend, a horrible looking freak sitting in the co-pilots seat, named Frank N. Stien. "After all," he continued, taking a puff on his Venusian Reefer, "This ain't the first time Rockette's double crossed yah." "No," moaned Daniel, "But it sure is the last---there ain't no more planets on this side of the system to settle. Goonesboro was my last settlement---Ah yes, Goonesboro, back on Neptune--" "yeah,"Growled Stien, his long fangs sweeping the floor, "And on Saturn it was Goonesburg, and on Mars Goone Town. Your sure love your name, don't you?" "Well," stammered Goone, look at that rat Rockette, "On Jupiter he started Rockette-City, on Uranus he started Rockette-Ville, and Pluto heaven knows what he's started. Well, we'll know soon, cause there is the Lone Star Planet now---My isn't it awful close?" "Yep," agreed Frank,"But that 'taint Pluto, it's a spec 'a dirt on yer glasses--" "Oh, is that all?" --------- C R A S H---------*7%$_&'%#"#*1/4:L)(& "Oh" moaned Daniel,"I forgot to tell you,---there wasn't any lenses in my glasses!" Looking around, he found he was drapped on the chandelear.
