February, 1941. SUN SPOTS Page 27. [[underline]]FINIS[[end underline]] By Charles Beling I am sorry to say that this will be my last editorial for SUN SPOTS. Yes, I'll no longer be an editor. The reason? No, I wasn't fired, I was forced to quit for the reason that money doesn't grow on trees. You see, i'm also publishing another fanmag; besides SUN SPOTS. And, I've only enough money to put out my own mag, FAN-ATIC. So---farewell. Before I depart, however, I want to get something off my chest. First of all---How many of you have seen the latest of Lowndes' Vombiteur. I just saw it today, and what he says burns me up. This one time I [[underline]]don't[[end underline]] disagree with the futurians. I think that Sykora, Taurasi, and Moskowitz should be barred from all fan organizations, fanmags, conventions, etc. The conduct of these three at a recent QSFL meeting is nothing short of a disgrace to fandom. After inviting two Futurians to the meeting they refused to let them in, and on top of that, tried to rough them up. When Wilson resisted, and his companion knocked Sykora flat, the latter called the building manager to have the Futurians thrown out. Instead of the Futurians being evicted the whole group was chucked out. After this exibition of childishness and unfairness I think that we ought to boycott the above three "fans",not the whole group of New Fandom, just those three. * * * * * * * LAST MINUTE PIECE OF FICTION, A SHORT STORY [[underline]]THE GREATEST ADVENTURE[[end underline]] By Philip Franco Soon, yes very soon, bill Mansen would depart on his great adventure. In a few moments he would be on his way. Now he became nervous and his legs refused to move; his entire body seemed paralyzed except for his seething brain. Memories were passing before him, his childhood days, sports in school, star student and athlete in college. Soon they became a jumbled maze in his brain. Why, why---why couldn't he move his body. Then it all came back to him. yet he didn't want to leave just now. he was leaving too much behind on this adventure he was preparing for. Again he tried to move his body, but he just couldn't. His eyes scanned the room he was in and he noticed a greenish tinge all about him. Still he couldn't figure all this out. He then saw a door open, and people began filing in taking seats in front of him. One of these men went to a complicated affair by his side and remained standing. Then it all came back to him. Yes, he, the perfect man was about to die. He knew why; so did the entire world. Sweat oozed out from his pores; his muscles tensed; he knew in a few seconds that he would embark on his greatest adventure. As the clock struck eleven the man near the wall pulled the big switch. Bill saw the faces about him blur and then vanished. He seemed to be flying through space; past countless suns, stars, and planets. A voice seemed to beckon him on. Past universe upon universe he went. Even beyond space itself. Yes, this was his greatest adventure...END
