Oct. 5. 1940 SUN SPOTS Page 5 EDITORIAL #2 by Roderick Gaetz What I want to know is why is Bob Studley's Scientale taking so long to come out. Bob seems to be a little slow. Just for contrast lets take the editors of SUN SPOTS. We carry the thing a little bit too far the other way. We got our stencils Friday 13th and we expect to be finished by Tuesday 17 th, thats five days for 20 pages nad Studley has already worked off and on(mostly off I guess) for aprox. one year on his precious Scientale which is only going to be about thirty pages. Oh well, after all the time he has spent on it it must be good and I for one am waiting breathlessly for it to come out. Another squack I have about a fan mag.is the irregular way Fantasy News is coming to us. Once in a while we get a bunch of them and other times we get only one very late one.Maybe they just arn't favoring us with any service, how about you.Taking us again,we are more than punctual. Here it is, only the middle of September and we have almost finished October's issue. An apology for you humor lovers. We are very sorry that we could not find anything funny for yous but Bon Ton ought to make you happy. From Cre. we hear that SNIDE #2 is realy coming after all. It seems that damon had a little trouble with his hectographing which delayed things a little. That article of Moskowitses is sort of depressing to us science fiction fans.It was so depressing , in fact , that your editors have expanded from a puney publication to a tremendous twenty page tabloid. SPACEWAYS published by Harry Warner Jr. is going to celebrate its second anniversary with its November issue. This issue will have between thirty and forty pages and an advertisement from the Solaroid Club giving the names of all the club members.(Plug) Have you heard about or seen the ALCHEMEST vell ifen you haven't I'm just a tellin you it's the dorn mag you can get for a dime How many of you guys(and girls too) have given your list of favorite fan mags to A.Widner for his poll.If you haven't vet don't forget good ol' SUN SPOTS. We recently received a copy of Vol.1 No.1 Whole No. 1 of The Ohio Fan from Joe Lowandowski. It is a purd ygood job of hectoing but his typewriter is tho small kind and some of the letters were filled in.All in all it's a good nickels worth.P.S. this was the first issue. Talking about Lowandowski, he is really aiming at something when he is trying to start a one-state Stf.organization. As far as my knowledge runs,(which isn't far), there are about one dozen fans in the whole state of Ohio. Those for the most part are inactive.and so it seems to me that Joe is going to have a deuce of a time getting that Ohio Fantasy Assn. going. For further information, see the Trash Basket. The latest Super Science Stories looks a honey--from the outside at least. It has about the best cover seen on that publication since the first issue, and while we were unable to find the artists name on our copies, we have a good reason to believe we know who it is.. Not bad-- The contents look imposing on the contents page, but I have not read the stories yet, and so cannot say for sure. Anyway, here's hoping--!!
