"Did you touch the body,Pug" queried the now exited Bronson. "No sir!" said Pug with an imfatic no,"The minute I saw him lyin' there, I rushed right up here ta tell you!" "Good", commented General Lippitt,"Perhaps we can still get the criminal in that case. Come on lets hurry down!" As the three of them burst into the anti-chamber of the rocket room, they saw Von Brachet stooping over the inert body of Larrney the engineer. Looking up as they entered, the Doctor said: "He's dead, I just came in, and found him lying here in a pool of blood." "Yes" said Bronson,"Pug just came up and told us about it. How could have anyone have done such a terrible thing---Shooting a fine man like Larrnet?" "Is this the exact way you found him,Pug?"Questioned Von Brachet. "Sure", answered the ex-fighter, his swollen eyes shifting from the Doctor to the corpse. "I didn't touch the body!" "Then how did you know he was shot, Bronson?" Snapped Von Brachet. "Why Pug said---"Started the young Captain,"---but Pug, if you didn't touch the body, how did you know he was shot through the heart?" "Why, I just er, er---"Stammered McGovern. "All right, so I did kill him---and I'm going to kill you too, yes you Bronson, and you Lippitt, and you too Dr. Von Brachet---Yes your all going to die--- and then I'll go up and finish off Sparks. Then I'll be in control of this ship!" "But Pug"Gulped Bronson,"Why---?" "You thought I was just a dumb ex-prize fighter, didn't you?Well, I'm not. I've learned plenty since I stopped fighting---Steuber's tought me a lot of things!" Steuber!" ,Exclaimed Bronson,"You mean---?" "Yes" laughed McGovern,"I've been giving Steuber all the information on this crate, and don't get the idea that I can't run it. I ain't been watching you run this ship for nuthin'. Sure, I know enough to put her down in the middle of the Atlantic ocean!" "And then what are you going to do?Asked von Brachet with an icy smile,"Swim home?" "No" answered Pug,"Steuber thinks of everything. He has a ship waiting to pick me up. All's I have to do is radio my position, and that's that!" At this moment the door burst open, and sparks Jackson came in yelling: "Captain, Captain Bronson--Oh here you are---!" The ex-fighter whirled to confront his supposed antagonist. As he did so, Bronson and von Brachet lept upon his back, bearing him to the floor. His gun clattered from his hand, and in a second General Lippitt had him covered. Bronson and the Doctor arose, pulling Pug along with them. "You saved the day" Commented Bronson to the amazed Radio operator. "Gee" exclaimed Sparks,"I certainly didn't know it. I was just
