December, 1940. SUN SPOTS Page 18. Sun Squawks or Reader's Letters Lew Martin, 1258 Race St., Denver,Colo. Brief summary of SSP for Nov. Cover:Your best yet. Very good. annual Inspection:-didn't read yet. Mystery Lake :-phew, amateurish and pointless.Sounds like Jack Armstrong. Two humor pieces: -Fair and good respectively. Thompson is good. Don't agree on somethings tho. Plotkin is discussing a worn out subject. De la Ree's editorial is invaluable. I have already showed it to three of my non--Stf friends. I have become low on patience when they asked the dumbest questions about Stf in general, and fanmags in particular. Gaetz's editorial is very good. 'specially the account of his troublr with the stencil. Ah me, and I thot I was the only one who had trouble with the mimeo. The accounts of the meetings is good. Keep 'em up. The trash basket is still as good as ever, which is one of the best features in the mag. Fan Mag review is all right. More interesting than most reviews. Thanx for the plug. The sages Says word of wisdom, I seldom disagree on a story with him, but I don't read a third as many as he apparently does. He is a very lient(fooey) critic and fair. I hear he has just sold a story to [[underline]]Astounding[[end underline]]. More power to him. * * * * * * * D.B.Thompson 2302 U.Street, Lincoln,Nebr. cover--best to date Attitude towards two cons--Perfect! Editorials--Plotkins,slightly immature(isn't that strange?) but quite well done. By de la Ree--Good idea ,that introduction. Contents good. By Gaetz--his troubles with a stencil, are amusing--ditto his spelling,(and de la Ree's). Humorous stories---BBB is the best. All a little too much on the "Slap stick"side.Forgot 'Annual Inspection'. It is better than BBB. Mystery Lake on Titan--Gaetz should be able to do better than that, I think. It has some good points, though particularly the little side remarks, such as "Manley always wanted to answer back 'yes pop'. There may be Werewolves--Best in issue. But it doesn't convience [[underline]]me[[end underline]], because so far, there has never been any real evidence
