Page 2 SUN SPOTS SUN SPOTS Published bi-montly by the Solar Press, 31 Bogert PI., Westwood, N. J. Roderick Gaetz Bob Blanchard Gerry de la Ree, Jr. Editors Volume 5 Number 3 Whole number 19 Subscription rates: 10c per copy; 3 for 25c; 50c per year All trades, ads, subscriptions, letters welcome. EDITORIAL YOU CAN'T KEEP THE SUN FROM RISING! A little less than two months ago we announced that SUN SPOTS had been dissolved. However, today we have the honor to inform you that we have once again started up our magazine. This time however, it is radically different than the old SUN SPOTS, which as you will remember was a mimeographed mag. We are now, as you can see, printed, one of the few stf fan magazines that are being printed at this time. We therefor have given you more than just even edges and better spelling. True, the mag. is considerably smaller, but although we have decreased somewhat in size, the cost of pubblication has risen to four times that which it was before! For this reason several changes have come about. First, we are planning, because of our limited space to have only the best articles by the most well known stf authors, editors and fans. To start off on the right foot we have articles by Manly Wade Wellman and Joseph J. Millard in this issue. Next, to cover the tremendous cost of printing this magazine, we have been forced to raise the price to 10 cents a copy, three for 25 cents. Even this, however, will not fully cover the loss that we must stand each issue, and for that reason we call on everyone of you who is reading this, and is not now a subsciber to our magazine, to send in your dimes and quarters so we may carry on to bigger and better issues in the near future. Lastly, for obvious reasons, SUN SPOTS will be bi-monthly at least until sufficient money is coming in regularly to support a monthly publication. To start off the New SUN SPOTS we have a change in editors, namely Bob Blanchard, who is taking the place of Roy Plotkin. Bob has been reading stf for a few years now, and just recently moved to Westwood, where he was at once inducted into the Solaroid Club. An interesting coincidence is that he moved into the house that Roy Plotkin left vacated when he went to Florida last fall! Speaking of Plotkin, he has returned from Florida, and after paying ye eds a visit, has gone to camp in New Hampshire. In the fall he will become a Freshman at the University of Michigan. Next month SUN SPOTS will present "A New Medium for Fantasy", by Eando Binder! Also there are good chances for an article from the well known author, Edgar Rice Burroughs So be on the look-out for THE NEW SUN SPOTS!!
