4 The Phantagraph But the thought persists--what becomes of religions based on the chosen race of the universe idea? What becomes of privately paternal creation of life which is the basis of almost all the world's religions? What becomes of the special envoys of the creator to this one of the millions of worlds? Galileo shook a lot of the stuffiness out of clerics of his time, but Strand with as little intent as Galileo, may yet end by bringing the walls down on the narrow confines of Holy Rote. ------------------------------------------------------------------ EDITORIAL NOTE While there are seventy copies of this issue published, only sixty of them will have a cover. The reason being that our cover was run off by John Michel months before the irresponsible meddlers slipped an amendment into the June 1943 FAPA election raising the limits of membership. The undemocratic act, which did not permit of any public discussion of the matter, caught our cover worker unprepared. We do not know whether the new number of copies required will compel us to drop our silkscreened covers or not. We fear the worst. ------------------------------------------------------------------ AA_EXPRESS Walk not in the shadow of the subway kiosk My love for there lurks the idle wastrel And the song of the singing tracks that Glow in the deep moonlight. Dim in the stars, read the daily news Or watch the baseball scores for a love tilt Be a sugar plum in the dead serpentine dusk The tracks are glowing my live, by [nine?]. --Graham Conway
