Ah, but that mood. Ye Gods, world, SOME MOOD! A kaleidoscope had nothing on it. Remember those fancy frilly things children cut out of clean white paper with scissors? Can you feel it now? With flashes of rounded bare legs and other things to come. Then a jolting scare. You could almost hear some of the tinsel cracking. Oh Schmalhausen! Oh Ellis! Oh Kraft-Ebbing and Forel! Maybe you weren't good enough for HER. Subtle change now, eh? Caught yourself sneaking away with some dirty thoughts. Ha, ha, ha! Did you think that YOU were more than human? Stop the dreaming, man. Some day she'll have constipation and corns and get up in the morning looking like something the cat dragged in and maybe get careless about how she bathes the body beautiful and the family life will change suddenly into a lifebuoy ad or---the gods save us--a Lycsl blurb. Afterawhile that cherubic face will begin to look like a lump of dough--and then the cosmetic bills! Falling in love! Bah! Upthrust Monolith A rift in the monotony Of amber sky and shoreless sea; It rears its ancient, evil head In hideous expectancy. --Robert W. Lowndes
