The tragic result of the official inactivity has been an increasing lack of faith in the 'young blood' and a return to the 'oldsters'. The two persons thus far nominated for the presidency are Ernest A. Edkins and C.W. Smith, both old-timers who have proven their ability. Mr. Edkins has definitely refused the nomination and has asked me to give the fullest publicity to that refusal. In his letter Edkins makes a statement with which I most heartily concur "...I am absolutely opposed to the election of any old-timer. The present day amateurs should and must run their own affairs; if they are incapable of doing the job, the association had better be allowed to die forthwith." (continued on page 9) page 7
