ACTIVITIES Members may borrow form the Club's exceptional library of imaginative fiction, which contains over 1000 magazines and numerous books. Facilities are also available for the publication of amateur magazines, this pamphlet having been prepared on our own equipment. Los Angeles fans are very productive of "fanzines", in the past 7 years having issued over 100 different titles! The club as a body publishes its organ, known as Shangri-L'Affaires: and is responsible for such other well-known fan magazines as The Acolyte, the Lovecraftian enterprise of Francis Laney & Sam D. Russell; Voice of the Imagi-nation, "the forum of fandom", published by Sgt Forrest J Ackerman; Venus, an artistic Milo-stone by Lora Crozetti; Guteto, an Esperanto maglet, the work of Morojo; Fan Slants, Fandomania, Toward Tomorrow, Entre and other all-around offerings. Contributions from members of fiction, artwork, articles and poetry are encouraged. Meeting activities vary from speeches by members or guests to contest or informal discussions. JOINING A prospective member may attend free three times in two months, as a guest. Application for membership may be made to the Treasurer. Dues are 50¢ per month plus 10¢ per meeting attended. A minimum of two meetings per month must be attended to retain membership. Full membership (voting power) is not obtained until after 3 months. Immediate privileges include membership card, free stationary, the club magazine and use of the library.
