2 THE PHANTAGRAPH FANZINE Carbon copy of a legal document obtained for me from a court attendant: March 27, 1941 Hon. Saul S. Streit Judge of the Court of General Sessions, County of New York Re: W____H____-Ind.No. 2[illegible] Sentence 3-28-41 Dear sir: This defendant is of Borderline Intelligence with an I.Q. of 75 on the Bellevue Verbal scale. He is a slow, burly, evasive individual who has exuberant religious ideas with hallucinations of vision and of hearing which are of a religious nature. He also has a delusional pattern which is connected with witchcraft and in response to which it is very likely the present offense occurred. Physical examination is essentially negative, except for marked obesity. Because of the religious ideas, the hallucinations and the delusions, (although this may be seen in religious fanatics who are not psychotic), it is entirely likely that he is suffering from a psychosis. In the short time available for examination it is not possible to be definite upon this point, but under further observation and intensive study such as could be made at Bellevue Hospital the true pattern would emerge. It is therefore recommended that he be sent to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital for observation. Respectfully submitted, R_______S___________, M.D. (Fans dabbling in witchcraft take heed!)
