DEVIL TAKE THE HINDMOST . . I am utterly abased -- the great Searles didn't mention either one of my FAPAzines. Maybe he tabooed 'em. HORIZONS . . Who is this guy Degler the boys were talking about? . . Harry continues to put out one of the most interesting mags in FAPA. THE-RENT-A-TITLE-AND-PUBLISH-YOUR-OWN-FANZINE AMATEUR PRESS ASSOCIATION . . if you haven't joined, it's too late. We had to close the membership rolls when we passed the 3,456,789 mark -- makes for too bulky a mailing. NUMBER TWO . . But willie, I never went to college! And I resent that "professional" -- I still have my amateur rating, suh! MILTY'S MAG . . Congrats on the Fifth birthday, Milty. Too bad circumstances prevented a big cake with the usual Rothman icing. TWILIGHT ECHOES . . I cried and cried over that breakfast scene. . . I am glad to see you continue studying, Joe. It means a lot more in the years to come than a few memories of hell-bent shore leaves -- I know! FANTAST'S FOLLY . . How the FAPA do grow and spread itself forth across the face of old Terra. Now we get magazines from Italy, yet. And a mighty good one, too. Wish I had the first part of that fanstory. Now I'll never know how it started. The poems were excellent.. . Come as often as you can, Sam. FAN-DANGO . . The Music Poll was very, very interesting, and I am glad you held it, Fran. Too bad more of the boys weren't interested enough to send in their votes. I was rather surprised to find Symphonies so far out in the lead, although I know a lot of the boys love them. Let me know when the first rehearsal is to be called -- I gotta limber up my wrists. THAT THING FROM BLOOMINGTON . . It was a grand gesture of Bob's to reprint Dale Tarr's first little carbonzine. It was well worth thus being preserved.. . I wish someone would tell me how Tucker can print 8 pages of literary nothing, and make it so doggoned interesting? THE DOODLE . . We met a Rudolph once, but I guess it wasn't your man, Graph, 'cause he didn't look likeyour picture of your Rudolph. Sorry. THAT STUPID THING . . I certainly was. Me no likee! FANTASY COMMENTATOR . . Remains one of the finest pieces in the mailing, and filled with interesting dope about books and such. Nothing, however, that requires particular comment, except that the man certainly does a magnificent job with a mimeo and typer. A TALE and THE TIME-BINDER . . MY kids! READER AND COLLECTOR . . Just when I had begun to worry for fear there were to be no more Hisses, along comes another volume.. . On that bit from the Beasts of Barsac, I wondered how he was going to shock Barsac to death after shorting the electricity. Maybe he was fixing to make up like Ashley. But, no, that would be too horrible! . . I ran across one recently in some non-fan story -- "'Marge!', he hissed." And she was more the (k)issing type of gall than the (h)issing sort. -3-
