WHY AN NFFF? by E. Everett Evans As mos tof you know, the writer is President of the N A T I O N A L FFANTASY F A N FEDERATION, an organization of Fans who are banded together to do those things, and to get those things, that they desire from Fandom. Since there are so many ideals of Fandom; so many people who wish to get some certain things from Fandom, the activities of such an organization must of necessity be greatly varied, and its policy flexible. Ocassionally there has been those who asked why there should be such a national organization; if such a Federation could really fill any reasonable place in their fan world. If I, personally, did not believe completely and sincerely thatthere was a real need for it, I would not be making this organizational work the major hobby of my life I would not be doing everythign I possibly could t o make it grow stronger, larger and more successful in doing for fans those things which they wish done, and which require a group effort in the doing. While I spend much of my fantime working for the things of the present, I am also looking forward to the future of Fandom. I am trying to help build an organization that can give active and actual ssistance to the youngsters of fandom who will be the Top Fans of Tomorrow. I see to these youngsters striving to write; to draw; to edit; to collect; to learn; and I know they have a hard row ahead of them.
