ballot is just as secret as the "Australian", duo to the fact that the teller is neutral and does not tell anyone how our voted. Personally I think the post card ballot is easier to handle. Both for the member and the teller. Back in 1948 we had 149 vote from a 300 membership. It's a lot simpler to check a post card and put it in the mail. The surprise vote was for Chairman Directer Roy Lavender - 118, the same as President Rick Sneary pollod!! The secretary-treasurer of each year does have a better chance at the higher offices, because he is better known in N3F circles. Naturally he is more active in NFFF work. Can't we organize party lines for 1952 election? It seems the only way to get enough interest into the voting. It's no longer a chore, being Teller, in fact I like it. Hopo I can be of service again in 1952 election. - K. Martin Carlson (Kaymer) THE 9TH WORLD SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION WILL BE HELD IN NEW ORLEANS, LA. over the labor day week-end 1951. The New Orleans Science-Fantasy Society, sponsors, solicit your support and membership in the Nolacon Committee. We cordially urge you to ATTEND! If you're from the South you'll probably meet some fans from your home town hero. If you're a Yankee you're going to meet some red hot Rebel fans. But where'er you hail from, we can darn well arrange for you to meet some from you home town --- and we will. We have the 3500 - name cumulative convention files. Professionals? We've some lined up already, as of Portland. Doc. E. E. Smith will be on the program, as will E. E. Evans. Stanley Mullen, Mack Reynolds, Fred Brown, and Walt Sheldon are coming too. We are already committed to a practical Dianetics session. Already NSFS takes a back seat to no one outside of the Hubbard Foundation. Experience, we've got it, NOW! We've worked hard to get this convention --- drove all the way to Portland, Oregon. We want to make it worthy of New Orleans, The Paris of The Americas, so that the South will go on getting them in our turn. But we can't finance it. That's where you must always come in. $1.00 is the traditional sum for membership in convention committees. For this you get:- Membership card, program booklet and listing in same, as well as in the progress bulletins, (not less than three)... ... and the greatest experience that a Science Fiction fan can have, THE WORLD CONVENTION!
