June 12, 1945 Dearest Evelyn, I just finished making myself a writing desk out of some scrap lumber so I decided I'd better . break it in right by writing a few letters this afternoon. There isn't a darned thing going on around here. About all the work we do is run prisoners around or pull guard duty. Believe me, we really hop these P.W's around. Haven't gotten any mail for a few days. Can't figure out just what the heck is wrong. Went swimming a couple more times in the Med. Sea. The waves were really rolling and I had a big time riding them. Getting a good suntan also. We have been having movies every
