June 19, 1945 Dearest Evelyn, Golly, golly but it is hot! I have my shirt off now and I'm about to go one step farther. Don't know why it's so hot for the sun isn't shinning. Feels like it could rain. Maybe it would cool things off. Just had mail [can?] and i had a letter from you. It was dated June 11, so it made pretty good time. I haven't been getting much mail lately. Guess its because I haven't written many. About all I write anymore is to the family and you. I have really been busy this past week. Another kid and I were put in charge of company athletics and it is quite a job getting started. We were also give a tent to fix as a "Day Room." That is what has over
