June 30, 1945 Dearest Evelyn, Here is old "Better late than never" trying to get off a few lines while he is still in good humor. I just finished eating steak for lunch so that accounts for the mood I'm in. You know the old saying about a mans stomach and I'm no exception, or am I. If I remember correctly, there was an evening when food wasn't at all important. All kidding aside, I truly am sorry about the delay. Seems like the army just trys to keep a guy busy. I've been standing so much guard here the past to days that I don't know which end
