July 24, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Luck finally came my way and I had a letter from you this morning. It was your July . 15th one. Honey, I was really glad to get it. It still wasn't the one answering my questions. Darling, I can't figure out why my mail is taking so long. We were told that most of our mail would go by boat to the States, but that is a long time even by boat. Surely you will get my letters soon. Being away from you is torture enough without holding our mail up besides. Another of those hot days. No breeze or dust by some twist of luck. I'm sitting in my shorts and even now I feel as if I'm in a Turkish Bath.
