July 28, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, The mail finally came through and narrowly averted a disaster. One more day of waiting and the army would have had a maniac on their hands. Honest honey, thats how much your letters mean to me. Oh, I suppose it wasn't quite that bad, but I really was needing a bit of news from you. The news you write is what I like to hear honey. Even after you've said you loved me several times before, I still get that tug at the heart when you say it again. Not only did I get a letter from you darling, I had three of them. Now if that isn't enough to make my spirits soar, I don't know what could. They were postmarked July 17, 22, 23. I nearly broke the mail orderly's arm
