Aug 20, 1944 Dear Evelyn, Looks like I'm way behind in getting your letters answered so I'd better do it now when I have a few spare seconds. These fools, having it mildly, are about to run me ragged. We spent three nights in the field last week working. It is no fun doing this stuff both day and night. Can you imagine sleeping in a swamp with a raincoat for a bed? If you can then you know how I spent the week. Don't take that bed part too seriously for it was seldom that we got to use them. We go out this week and stay for four days. Some fun---like heck. Thanks for the picture Abbie. I don't think it does you justice, but it isn't bad at all. Thanks again. It is raining out so it is a
