Dec 12, 1944 Dearest Evelyn, I certainly take my own sweet time about writing don't I? I don't know what it is, but I nearly have to force myself to write anymore. I'm fire guard tonight so I have to stay awake all night and keep the fires going and keep an eye out for fires. One good time to write letters anyway and it helps keep me awake. I get to sleep tomorrow which is going to suit me just fine. Nothing much of interest going on around here. We do train some but its just the same old thing of classes on this and that plus walking. We have managed to have a couple dances and the same amount of movies. I had seen
