G 430--RELIGION'S ROLE IN RACIAL CRISIS: A Report on the First National Conference on Religion and Race. 65c. Reports the deliberations of leading members of virtually every religious denomination in America--Prostant, Orthodox, Catholic and Jewish--on the responsibility of the religious communities for actively participating in America's greatest moral issue: the demand of Negro citizens for equal rights and equal opportunity. The publication details the recommendations for action that came out of the Chicago conference. Single copies, order from National Conference on Religion and Race, 289 Park Avenue South, N.Y. 10, N.Y. Fifty or more, @ 40c each, from ADL. G 434--RACE AND INTELLIGENCE. Melvin M. Tumin, editor. Four distinguished social scientists--Dr. Henry Dyer, vice-president of the Educational Testing Service; Dr. Silvan tomkins, Princeton psychology professor; Dr. Ralph Turner, chairman of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, UCLA; and, Dr. Sherwood Washburn, president of the American Anthropological Association--examine in detail the charge that Negroes have a lower native intelligence than whites. They are in substantial agreement that scientific evidence tends to indicate that race has no significant relationship to intelligence. .75 G 415--EPITAPH FOR JIM CROW. Thomas Pettigrew. A publication based upon Dr. Pettigrew's searching analysis of the problems of prejudice and discrimination against Negroes in the United States. Originally a series of five half-hour TV films. A source book for answering questions on race relations problems and attitudes in the United States. Professor Lincoln of clark University, reviews the history of the Negro in America and analyzes contemporary issues. Dr. Lincoln is author of "The Black Muslims in America." Forthcoming 1963. R 146--THE NEGRO IN AMERICA TODAY. Ernest Dunbar. (From LOOK.) 12 pp. 15c. Without forgetting the unrealized goals yet to be won. a senior editor reviews the substantial progress of Negroes in many areas of American life formerly closed to them. 15
