WHAT THE COUNCIL DOES COLLECTS FACTS: On integrated facilities, school transfers, MDTA and Apprentice programs, available houses for sale, Hill-Burton projects, etc. SUPPLIES FACTS: To individuals who want to patronize integrated facilities, groups working to extend desegregation, public officials who need informal information, writers and students. PROVIDES A COMMUNITY FORUM: -e.g., Series on Human Relations and Metropolitan Growth Feb. --Realtors, government housing officials, planning officials on Housing March--Professionals in industrial management, vocational education, training, labor, on Employment April--School Board and Professional Educator on Education PLANS AND ASSISTS IN COMMUNITY PREPARATION FOR CHANGE: -e.g., Special programs to encourage school transfers, orient Negro students to new "white" schools, assist individual transfer students and families. OFFERS HUMAN RELATIONS EDUCATION: -e.g., Panel of Americans special intergroup program for students. GIVES OPPORTUNITIES FOR FRIENDSHIP: To Negroes and whites as they meet in all kinds of situations, from dinner parties to picnics. PRESENTS BROAD BASE OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR DESEGREGATION: 576 individual members, from all parts of the Metropolitan area, cutting across racial, religious, professional lines. INTERPRETS ATLANTA TO VISITORS FROM OTHER STATES AND COUNTRIES -e.g., Ambassador from Ceylon, Official of Tanganyika, norther Baptist ministers, British journalist. WORKS WITH ATLANTA SUMMIT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE: Special program to interpret and enlist support of white community; observors in court, visitors to jails, contacts with families of student demonstrators, information to ASLC. COOPERATES WITH OTHER AGENCIES: -e.g., With YWCA in workshop for high school students, with ACLU Lawyers Committee in distributing information in Newsletter, with state, regional and national agencies. (The Council is affiliated with the Georgia Council on Human Relations) PUBLISHES MONTHLY NEWSLETTER; HOLDS QUARTERLY MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS
