SOME SPECIFICS ACCOMPLISHED BY THE COUNCIL IN 1963: Negotiated desegregation of Smith-Hughes Vocational School. Negotiated desegregation of neighborhood and drive-in movies. Designed, printed and distributed 35,000 anti-discrimination stickers. Prepared, kept current and distributed list of integrated facilities in Greater Atlanta. Presented speakers to interracial audiences including Associate White House Press Secretary, Protocol Officer of U. S. Department of State, and Atlantans invited to Presidential White House Conferences. Helped publish Directory of Equal Opportunity Employers in Metropolitan Atlanta area. Programmed more than 100 visitors at average of 3 days each for State Department. Counseled with Negro transfer students and parents. Maintained liaison with Atlanta Summit Leadership Conference, printed document ACTION FOR DEMOCRACY for community information. Assisted officials and citizens in Decatur and DeKalb County in human relations developments. Planned special programs to increase support and use of desegregated facilities, including restaurants and swimming pools. Cooperated with other agencies in programs to extend desegregation in education, employment, housing, health services, social services, etc.
