Anti-war Protests - planned and considered --Thursday 6 a.m. (or anytime before 8 a.m. if you can't make it by 6) Silent Vigil at Post Office- set for the time when harbor mines are to be activated. --Send a "Personal Opinion Message" telegram to Nixon or Schwengel - $1.25 for 15 words ot less. (Sample: Mr. President - I regret your May 8 decisions. Withdraw immediately and end the war.) --Ask 5 other persons to send a telegram, ask them to call 5 others. --Possibly a "Caravan to Washington" - students hope to take busloads of persons to Washington, stopping at towns along the way to "show the solidarity of people against the war." Hope to get groups from Minnesota and Illinois to join. Finances will be needed. --Possibly caravans of people to move through small towns of Iowa, talking with people about war, ending in Des Moines for mass meeting. Maybe Saturday. --Possible rally in Iowa City this weekend - hope to get Hughes, but may need to use local speakers. --Write a "Letter to the Editor" of the Press Citizen and/or the Des Moines Register expressing your feelings about the war.
