INFORMATION CENTER (Rumor Control): An organization developed and equipment and facilities arranged, for prompt response when University-community crisis develops. The "manual" details the formation of teams, the manning of the two telephones and the reporting responses for various types of information. This has been activated numerous times in the Spring of '71. Twice during the Winter pre-alerts occurred whn skeleton teams were on duty most of the night. (Structural and pastoral ministry. Smith, Shievely, Simpson, plus numerous other Campus Ministers, Pastors, students and other community persons were and are involved.) (More complete report included in agenda.) MONITORS: In the days of "unrest" during May '70 and '71, the Campus Ministers were deeply involved in organization, participation, supervision, and support. The Dey Building Offices were the center of life for the Monitors, being open 24 hours a day for five days, and staffed by Campus Ministers on 4-hour shifts. Last year ans again this year. the MONITORS are credited with being an important and effective force for peace and sanity. (Structural and pastoral ministry. Smith, Shively and Simpson involved, with many UCCM board members and other Campus Ministers and Pastors.) UNIVERSITY REGISTRATION: Durind the days of registration, the Campus ministers manned a table for dissemination of information about Campus Ministry. (Structural and pastoral ministry. Smith, Shievely, and Simpson involved.) ORIENTATION II: A series of 3 Wed. evening programs in the Union ballroom was planned, to follow successful programs two previous years. Due to numerous conflicts and general over-loading of schedules, this did not materialized as planned. Because is was well conceived and organized, it has recommended itself to the University administration, which will incorporate the most salient features in the Orientation for Fall '71. (Structural and pastoral ministry. Smith, Shively, Simpson all involved.) SPECIAL LECTURES: A task-force which has worked for four years to provide speakers, panels, and various programs focusing on key issues. Dr. William Pollard, Director, Oak Ridge Institute, world leader in physiscs and theology, was here for two days to participate in lectures, discussions and a 30-minute TV program, broadcast over IEBN, Channels 11, 12. Theme: "CONFLICT OF VALUES & ECOLOGICAL CRISIS." (Prophetic ministry. Simpson involved as Chairman and helped with TV production.) PLANS, PROJECTIONS FOR SPECIAL LECTURES: 1)Plans for radio and TV sports focusing on individual and corporate responsibility for value changes in ecology crisis. 2) Joint meerings with other Environmentally concerned groups. 3) Develop working model of Buckminster Fuller's "World Games" here at U/I, with trip to Southern Illinois U. this Spring. (Prophetic and structural ministry. Simpson sharing planning and administration.) CRISIS CENTER: This is a telephone service for persons with the need for someone to talk to, open daily, 5 p.m. - 2 a.m. We have been involved, from the first meetings, helping with ideas, planning, writing the Articles, and in orientation of workers. Dan Fullerton, UCCM Board member, serves now as Chairman of the Crisis Center Board. (Structural and prophetic ministry. Shively and Simpson also involved.) TEEP (Theological Experimental Education Project): Initiates, and originally funded by the National Council of Churches, after two years of programming here, this year (with no funds) efforts were made to arrange a symposium on "THE CHANGING FAMILY STRUCTURE." Plans now are to attempt a regional conference in Feb. 1972, with support from the National Campus Ministers' Assn. Board member Donna Sooby has served as Chairman. (Prophetic and structural ministry, Simpson assisting.) (continued)
