Association of Campus Ministers at the University of Iowa November 23, 1971 Dear colleague in the ministry: I have been asked by the Association to inform you of our sponsorship of a public address on Thursday, December 2 by Mr. Sharfudine M. Kahn, and to ask your cooperation in informing members of your congregation, parish, or whoever else you are able to contact about this important event. The nature of the speech will become clear as you read through the suggested paragraph below, which we hope you could insert in your weekend handout to people at worship services. Mr. Kahn is coming to Iowa City in the first place to participate in and speak to delegates at the Trygve Lie Model United Nations at the University December 1-4. We were able to arrange for this special lecture and film through the kind cooperation of the student committee working with that event. FOR CHURCH/PARISH BULLETINS WEEKEND OF NOV. 27-28 MR. SHARFUDINE M. Kahn, citizen of Mozambique in Africa, will give a public address Thursday, Dec. 2, at 8 pm in the new ballroom of the Iowa Memorial Union on the subject: "The Role of the Churches in African Liberation Movements." Mr. Kahn is a special representative of FRELIMO in the United State, based in New York where he works among delegates to the United Nations. His address will furnish a first-hand refutation of the slander against the "Program to Combat Racism" of the Readers Digest. His address will be illustrated with a motion picture showing the present status of FRELIMO, the liberation movement in Mozambique on the east coast of Africa, which is one of the recipients of the WCC special financial grants. The talk is co-sponsered by the Association of Campus Ministers and the Model United Nations committee at the University. We will appreciate your help in publicizing this extremely significant event.
