-2- 10-14-70 INFORMATION CENTER:PROCEDURES II. OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES. D. ACTIVATION PROCESS FOR CENTER AND PHONES 2. ACTIVATORS ARE TO FOLLOW THESE PROCEDURES IN OPENING THE CENTER: A. When an emergency occurs, ACTIVATORS are to call at least one other ACTIVATOR immediately to seek agreement on opening the Center - Each ACTIVATOR is to keep keys to Center East & to Phone Box on his person at all times. - Each ACTIVATOR needs to keep abrest of "happenings": common sense will help define "emergency". B. One ACTIVATOR (from among those listed on page 1, supra), is to agree to go to Center East at once and open up. C. The other ACTIVATOR is to seek to call as many of the ACTIVATORS as he can: - tell of action in effect for opening the CENTER - ask each to call in to the CENTER & report his availability. - at least one other ACTIVATOR should agree to go down and help open D. Upon arrival at CenterEast, the ACTIVATOR unlocks door and phones HE ASSUMES THE ROLE OF COORDINATOR. His guidlines are as follows: 1. He is COORDINATOR for 4 hours, or until properly relieved. 2. He forms the first TEAM as other ACTIVATORS/&volunteers become available. 3. TEAM STRUCTURE, of 6 persons: COORDINATOR: opens up and initiates all procedures 2 persons assigned to phones 1 persons: mimeograph: get mimeo. from Christus House, set up typewriter, stencils, etc. for operation. Do all co-ordination for producing mimeo data, bulletins, etc.,distribute 1 person: recruit for TEAMS, set up duty rosters, choose a COORDINATOR for each Team, brief Teams 1 person: monitor media, arrange for roving, mobile observers 4. The COORDINATOR (or phone personnel of TEAM, as available) will call the following entities and report that.... -a- the Center is open continuously, until further notice. -b- leave phone number of the INFORMATION CENTER: 337-9691. -c- ask for any relevant information -d- offer any relevant information available -e- request calls to the CENTER to feed in information or rumors or to receive such from the CENTER.
