-2- 5. Need for coordination of programs. Representatives of County Board of Health, Board of Education, Visiting Nurse Association Board have met several times. 6. Survey to identify needs a) No central collection point. b) County Board of Health has placed emphasis on environment. c) Health Records (births, deaths) housed in the Clerk office. Task Force of Johnson County Health Council has met regularly and has gathered some data. Hoover Health Council has committee gathering information about Johnson County Health facilities. 7. Lack of Consumer representation in the health oriented groups. Hoover Health Council will have 51% of its board composed of consumers. This ruling applies to the Johnson County Health Council as well. 8. Specialty areas are sometimes an obstacle. a) U. of I. serves the state and Johnson County, citizens do not have free access. College of Medicine is to have a Family Practice Unit in Johnson County. 9. Public media might be utilized for health information. a) newspapers b) radio Press Citizen and Daily Iowan have carried information about meetings of Johnson County Health Council & Hoover Health Council. 10. Coordination of care and follow-up of discharged hospitalized persons is needed. Mercy Hospital has initiated a Home Care Program with the Visiting Nurses Association. 11. Needs of children should be identified and follow-through of care for those identified. a) medical needs b) dental needs c) social adjustment School nurses and Visiting Nurse Staff meet together to discuss mutual concerns. A Comprehensive Child Care Committee (C.C.C.C.) is being established.
