(8) JOHNSON CO. cont'd.... Needs: more supportive groups for those who want to get together and talk about their own drug related experiences. Perhaps there is a need for some kind of walk-in facility. A half-way house might be halpful. VETERANS ADMINISTRATION HOSPITAL: Members of The Brotherhood, Paul Penningroth The Brotherhood is the name given to designate those in VA Hospital undergoing their treatment program. Location: 8-West. Contact can be made by phone. Persons can walk up and talk with them. They use a lot of "Confrontations" methods in their groups. It is a modified "synanon" program. The focus is not strictly on drugs, but on the person and his relationships: get persons to come on straight, come clean about their own inner needs, and then get ready to work on their own problems and prepare for going back into society. They are willing to share themselves and their methods (other than the medicinal treatments) with others upon invitation. For the patients there, the methadone maintenance program is used, as needed. 3.
