EXPOSURE EXPERIENCE 4/30-5/1, 1971 - SUMMARY 1. Purpose, schedule, general information - see attached copies. 2. Participants: 37 invited, 17 accepted, 10 actually participated. A number of persons who wanted to participate were actively involved in the May Day events. Ann - School Board member and Dick Fedderson - Businessman Dottie Ray - hosts a local daily radio interview-type program in her home. Gene Hancock - pastor of First Methodist Church John Cox - Assoc. Director of Admissions, Univ., also member of Wesley Board Martin Rosinski - U. prof., member of both Baptist and UCCM Boards Frank Hanlin - U. librarian, member of Wesley Bd. Carl Onofrio - Campus Minister, Christus House staff Bill & Rakel Sayre - He is U. prof., member of UCCM Board 3. Response by persons involved: a. In most cases there was good interchange of ideas between youth and participants. b. Youth we met with were generally very appreciative of this kind of experience. The high school students and off-campus living group especially said they would like to repeat this opportunity more often. c. Participants expressed great appreciation for the overall experience. They were generally pleased with the willingness of youth to talk with "older generation" and they expressed desire to continue the contacts and conversations. Found these contacts with youth rather reassuring. Expressed the need to think through all that they saw and heard in brief time. Written comments by individuals are on file. d. Spinoffs. It is a little early to note these yet. However: - attitudes of participants toward May Day activities may have been moderated--at least 2 went to the Peace Festival and one visited the Information Center Saturday evening. - Ann Fedderson asked Dave Schuldt to arrange meeting with Gay Lib. and School Board to increase understanding in dealing with Mike Roe situation. e. It will never be possible to estimate the value of the new contacts and understandings opened up among participants, youth, and campus ministers.
