EARTHBOUND by Rus Wood No more the skyways knew the mighty [[?]] Of Pegasus' wings. The mountains of [[?]] No longer knew his tread, as prancing [[?]] The Milky Way, he paused to graze awhile In Lunar pastures, ere he tossed his head To shake the stridant[[?]] from his fiery mane And frolicked with the wings[[?]] [[?]] Unfettered down the courses of the stars From stellar void to [[?]] [[?]] For Pegasus is earthbound, and his feet Are fixed among the [[?]]. The winged [[?]] Come one day at a [[?]] [[?]] in a field. A snow-white filly whicke[[?]] welcome. Like Called[[?]] unto like, and Pegasus came to Earth. But as he touched the ground his mighty wings Dropped off. Then galling bondage came. Years passed And brought him resignation. Yet sometimes When tugging at the plow, he lifts his head To catch a glimpse of younger Pegasi Skimming the clouds with sturdy, joyous wings, And wickers low a salutation. Then His work goes on, and tamed [[?]] winds [[?]] dust Into the eyes of Pegasus, the [[?]] -- Pasque Petals, '38
