PSFS News Page 14 I remember his enthusiasm when the first fan magazine the Time Traveller, was founded back in 1931 -- the first issue appeared in 1932. I was the first subscriber to that magazine, and also contributed a number of articles to it and its successor, Science Fiction Digest. I began to write while I was in high school, and one of my very first stories was read aloud to practically all of the English classes. While in school I wrote a number of short stories besides that one, and a forty thousand word novel. Shortly after graduation I worked in a coal mine for about eitht months -- the hardest work I ever did, before or since. That toughened me up physically. During that time, I had five stories published in the Barnesboro Star, the local paper, and all were well received. Then another big step -- I quit my job in the mines and came to Philadelphia. Here I met Rothman, Baltadonis, Madle, Marri[[?]], Bert, Agnew, and others. A week after my arrival here we formed the PSFS, which has been going ever since. Have held office three times -- treasurer, secretary, and at present director. Formed Comet Publications with Baltadonis, and an editor of Science Adventure Stories and PSFS News. My collection is a large one, consisting of nearly two hundred science fiction books -- among them are all of Merritt, Darkness and Dawn, and all other England stf., Messiah of the Cylinder, Draft of Eternity, and almost all of Burroughs' books. My files of all the magazines are fully complete, save for about two quarterlies, and all are in perfect condition. I have almost all of the Argosy stf from 1926 to date, and a lot of the old classics dating back to 1897. Rare items among these are the [[?]] Pool, Beyond the Great Oblivion, Through [[the?]] Dragon Glass, Into the Infinite, The Blind Spot, and hundreds of other itesm. During the past three years I have done very little writing.
