SFS News Page 18 ROBERT A. MADLE Bob was born on June 2, 1920--which makes him # twelve years of age--pardon, pliz, we're mixing up his mental age with age with physical age --correction: eighteen yrs. School of life was mediocre, only relief being his acquaintance with the inimitable JVB. Tho this, he has said, he owes his existance in this world of ours. . . . First initiated to science fiction in 1933. Science he and JVB hit upon it together, they had many, many arguments, and used to vie considerably for the completion of their separate collections. One fateful night, however, envious of Rothman's and Mariella's collection, they combined. Since then, they've #added quite a bit of sc[[?]]ence fiction to their collection. No doubt, it is one of the best int he US. Bob always did think he was a good writer. 'Way back when Gernsback had Wonder, he used to send Charlie Hornig super (stupor?) stories. The dubious honor of instigating Madle to write falls upon MARothman. Upon seeing MAR's collection of rejeck slips, Bob immediately decided to start a private collection of his own. Pink ones, green ones,,and yaller ones. They've all managed to come his way. It seems that his stories were swell and all that, but they never did seem to be just what the editors needed. Seriously, though, Bob does write good. There is sufficient evidence to prove that. With luck and patience, he'll undoubtedly get one accepted some day. Jack Agnew -- there is one of Bob's greatest works. Although the outlook wasn't bright at the times, it finally seems that Bob has fully accomplished his difficult task. Congrats!
