NEBULA is published by Rust E Barron at 5[[cent symbol]] a copy or 24 for $1; edited by Rusty and John Cunningham. FORM THE EDITOR. . . . . It looks as if THE FANTASITE, with all its changes in editorial staff, is not the only one. A look above will show you that a new one has been made in the staff of NEBULA. James Hevelin is no longer with us, and Beulah will continue to be mimeographed instead of going to the DITTO method, as I had previously announced as possible. Long distance co-editorships seem to have become popular lately, so John M Cunningham, of Texas, is now one of the editors of NEBULA. Now, if John and I can get in the FAPA, Beulah will have quarterly special issues to appear for the FAPA mailings. These will be from 6 to 10 pages, as your editor does not feel that putting in just a regular issue is fair to other contributors who regularly give a good sized publication. I think that most of the one-sheet publications in the mailings are nothing short of rackets which the editors work so that they may acquire the good stuff in the mailings by do-the least work possible. Further details of what we want for Beulah in the FAPA will appear later, after we determine our entrance. Since typing "FROM THE NEWSHOUNDS", Beulah has received confirmation of Ackerman's being taken by the Army. He reports to the board today, the 15th, and will be able to attend only one more meeting of the LASFS before he goes away. This will be during the 14 days grace they now allow. Fuller details will appear in this paper in 4e's own words with the coming week's issue. He sent a stencil giving us the works. NEBULA wishes herewith to ex-* all our best wishes to the top fan and all those others who have gone into the nations armed forces. *(forgot to finish "extend") UNDER SURVEILLANCE (cont from 17) to Regret", a switched identity time tale up among the best in the issue. Oscar J Friend takes the booby prize, and again awards himself the cover. Edmond Hamilton does the novel, which is based on c-t matter, and turns out something besides his usual hack. Asimov & Binder finish up the fiction with a couple of fair ones. There is an interesting short article about the little horses by Richard Tooker. A tiny cut for the short-short is the only decent pic in the issue, although the prize story's tops all the others by far. "ABOUT THE NFFF----" What is happening in the NFFF these days? It has just held some elections and should by now be reorganized sufficiently under its new officers so that it can undertake to accomplish some aims which non-members never hear of except by way of rumors. There is reputedly a planning committee to map out activities at long range. What have they planned, and if they are trying to get new members, why are they not putting these plans before fandom as a whole? We hear that there is also a committee for the purpose of finding new prospects for membership. It is finding them, and if so, why is it not contacting them and giving them the facts which will interest them in joining? Perhaps we are wrong, but to our knowledge, a surprising lack of such attempts is evidenced in Philadelphia, even if in no other city. Not one recognized fan in this city has been contacted or given any information whatsoever, although certain of us are interested. If this organization is doing the work they have planned why not give its results to fandom? This paper will put such information to the field. We do not wish to defame nor attack; we wish to know.
