JANUARY 2 1942 -3°. Kathryn and I shoveled drifted snow till 9 decided not to overtire myself, and had Ivan Bell finish. Got Signe for 3 days vacation. Hilda + Hans home at 5:40. Hans + I to Rabes for dinner 1943. Awake from 2:30 to 5:30 - then up at 9! [illegible] At Olga's, who took me to grandpa's, then Oskar took Hans + me to Velma's for lunch. Sig, K, Hans + I to Amanda's for [disk?] supper. Girls stayed there. Hans + I stayed at his folks. Velma's there in eve. 1944. Slept late after firing at 6. K + I to church + S.S. I had to Supt. 40 there. Kathryn skated back across the lake. I read "% Postmaster." Malone's brought Frank back at 7. Studied dansk. Wrote Sig. Met Zillie - her train a half hr. late. 1945. Hans' mother + I did the washing towels froze, hung outside. We drove to Alex. in P.M. - no gas at station! Got more library books, went to Circle A of WSCS at Mrs. Ryder's, 112 S. Columbus St. They welcomed me, made me publications Chm. 22° 32° 1946. Did a good sized washing. Hans in to see Burton Baker + got temporary job at $100 week. I waited in line a long time in "Liberty Loan Bldg" for job, but decided not to work 4-12 P.M. they wanted workers for. We read in "Julegran" in eve.
