FEBRUARY 1 1942. We all went to church. Hans got Kathryn. Had chicken for dinner. Played 500 with Ray and Frank. 1943. Didn't sleep till after 2. Up at 6:30. breakfast, then took Hans to highway for bus to train for Washington. Baked. Big washing. Slept in P.M. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Cornwell looked at house in eve. Letter from Owen at Camp Crowder. Mary L joined SPAR 1944 E. Wittenburg looked at place. Miserable stomach all day. Ate little. Made choc. chip cookies for Woman's Club. Car pump out of fix so I rode into "" Guest Nite with Mrs. Buss, out with E Hemming. Had charge of Pan Am Pageant and eats. 110 there. 1945 First ice on windowpanes - first such I've seen all winter. Cold and windy - Drove to Pub. Rel. mtg where we had "Information Please" quiz on Red Cross info. Jay W. here for supper. Edith had written Sig of her grandparents, Assam missionaries. 30° 43° 1946. Shopped in Alex. Got heat pad, flashlight for Hans and 2 small bath towels for Olive. Wrote 4 letters, worked on Sig's rug, Mrs. Norberg came back from Tenn. in eve. Hans not home till nearly 12 - busy at UNRRA
