FEBRUARY 8 1942. 68 at S.S. Wrote Wayne - [%?] P.M. New York and Dora Began reading "As I Remember Him" by Hans Zinsser 1943 Pauline made rose collar for K's red dress, and sewed buttons on my suit before we took her to 12:30 bus to Dubuque. I shopped a little. Home at 2. Took nap. Tired, Slept well - moved spruce tree - [illegible] helped Hans. 1944. Baked bread, cleaned up house. Arranged for Agnes R. to take my place at Mrs. Schwenn's birthday party. We packed and Frank took us to Madison, where we took bus to Epworth - 4:30-8:45. Lyle Miller met us and we talked till 1:00 A.M. 32° 42° 1945 Headache and some indigestion. Hans and I shopped in Alex. and he got photos taken. I sewed his "U.S." insignia on his shirts and coats, etc. He spent P.M. at Pentagon and is to be "alerted" after midnight. Letter that Frank is to have APO % P.M. New York. 1946. To class with Hans. Better luck than usual with buses coming home here 12:15. Vacuumed rug. Cleaned bathroom, etc. Made jello salad in eve. Shampooed my hair. Packed cookies and books into Signe's foot locker for Hans to ship out tomorrow.
