FEBRUARY 20 1942 Took Frank in & broken pump jack to blacksmith. Heard last chap. of Osa Johnson's 4 Yrs in Paradise on WHA. Took Mrs. Johnston and Gunnison to World Day of Prayer at 1st Christian Church. Saw at least 10 I knew. Heard Dr. Albert Palmer & James W Clarke again. Called on Nettie Brandt at hospital, who is making rapid recovery. 1943. Did the cleaning - then had to roost rheumatic shoulders - Crocheted center of cotton rug for Hilda. Zillie went in with Frank, who did my shopping. She stayed at Ruth's. 15° 1944. K & I drove to church. 59 at S.S. Janet & LaVon painted 4H plaques here in P.M. I sorted out basketful from 4H drawer for their mothers. Wrote Hans, [and?] 15 circle letter. K. went on 9:50 bus. 1945 Hemmed K's slacks she made from her dad's pants, made alterations on Ellen's green velveteen dress & sent it in in eve with K. First letter from Hans! And in London! Walked to Alex. for Public Relations Group. Mtg. in Norton Hall. Got 6 dresses to make for Danish Relief. 35° 1946 Clear, but high wind, & a skiff of snow in P.M. Sewed & mended an hour, went to UNRRA for 4 shorts & to pay Hans' baggage insurance. Bought myself an overnite zipper bog & a dark gray sharkskin suit. Mrs. Ban came and we went to very fine WSCS mtg at church. I drove. Program on Africa. "Black Madonna"
