FEBRUARY 23 1942. Walked to mailbox twice - no luck! Washed, waxed linoleum in back entry, invoiced seeds, worked on state income tax. Heard Roosevelt at 9. Cross stitched on tablecloth. 1943 Ironed my spread, etc. backed honey oatmeal cookies. Took Mrs. Northrop to Guild. Gave devotions for Rev. Stauke, who is in Milwaukee. Nice patriotic program. Out ration board in eve. 1944. Shoveled snow, began cleaning out tall desk. Mrs. Zeigler here to look at it. Worked on red house dress. Janet, Alice & Caryl here to paint plaques. Got lovely red-spoke rug from Constance. Wrote 3 letters & 3 cards. 40° 55° 1945. Had some headache & indigestion. Another letter from Hans. K & I drove to the John Paul Jones, and helped Hilda pack up. Geo. Reed came & helped load into the car, went out with us and helped unload, & move furniture! Letter from Hans. 53° 1946 Didn't get to sleep till after 2, for indigestion. Worked at airport 7:30 to 12. Very busy. Soldier from Maine predicts it will go Democratic in 1948! Took nap. Drove to Alex. for film prints, my old suit from cleaners, & stamps. Wrote Hans para dansk. Saw Danish. Am. airship from Copenhagen [illegible] airport.
