MARCH 3 1942 Hans left at 11 for Albert Lea. Minn. in auto for first this year. tho he is not wholly well. Was elected Pres. of Woman's Club for '43. Was chairman of panel discussion "What Should We Expect After War." Took Mrs Cornwell 1943. Ironed. Sig came in A.M. - worked in pillowcases for Hilda. We went in at 3, met Elsie, on NW from Ames. Had supper at Piper's Cafeteria. Left Sig at 307 S. Orchard. To bed early. Elsie have me 4 yellow Ark. roses. 1944. Rita made breads all day. I cleaned out library table drawer & Hans took it & his old desk to church. Rita & I went up to H.S. Home Ec. lab at 4 and at 7:30, when she demonstrated Bread making to our 4H. Club, Miss Meyer. K came home with us. "Pete" here for lunch- 41° 65° 1945 A day at home, cleaning, mending. Wrote usual weekly letter to MTT- just about Red Cross. Hilda went to Texas dance at the Shoreham. Read dansk. 60° 1946. Drove to church. Took armful of magazines & "Ox-Bow Incident" to U.S.O. Mailed cards to Circle "C"- then found out I put wrong hour on. Chaplain Denny Williams helped Dr. Clarke with Communion. Worked on poetry & other scrapbooks. Mrs. Zitser called on Red Cross drive. Called on McIntyre's at 9 P.M.
