MARCH 8 1942. Took Hazel & Dale & Juanita & Miss Z to church. 57 at S.S. Elynor Evans & Marjorie Ziegler began making 4H program tickets here in P.M. I wrote words for a boy's song. Finished income tax — federal tax 245, [illegible] - 10° 1943. Sent in income tax blanks as near figured out as I can. to Hans. (He telephoned for them Sat. eve.)— Snowed, Elsie helped wash. We drove to Conwell's, stopped at Roberts' & school. 9 girls & 2 boys at 1st 4H Club Mtg this yr. Hurley & Elsie spoke 1944 8° but sunny. I made bread pudding, strawberry shortcake. Cleaned out dresser & trunk, & packed trunk half full. Frank got his notice to go into Army the 20th. K. came out on 11 o'clock bus. 1945 Sunny but chilly. Hilda home with sore throat. Baked bread. Went to my first Washington Home Ec. meeting. Ruth O'Brien of Bureau of " ". worked out standards for cotton house dresses — we voted on 'em. Very interesting. Got $10 at 2 places for RC in eve. 59° 74° 1946. Went to World Day of Prayer at Emmanuel Episcopal church, then to Mrs. Gilliam's where I sewed till 3. It rained! Shopped at Safeway on way home. Turned in 5 more sunsuits. Pasted in scrapbooks. Went to bed early to make up for not sleeping much till 2 AM.
