MARCH 10 1943. Washed — hung outside, first time this year. Walked on drift! Sent birthday card to Rita, one to Mrs. Brandt. Played 500 at Whalen's till 3, then to [illegible] mtg. at Mrs. Meyer's. Frank got first in H.S extempo contest. 1943. 4 inches of snow. Walked to mailbox twice —letters to Hilda, K. Comments and to district Spiritual Life secretaries. Began second drape. Wrote Pauline. Mrs. Watts came for Red Cross roll call material. K packed to move in with Sig. 1944. K cleaned out hall closet, worked on her room & attics. Frank packed a box of his belongings to store. Snow melted. I cleaned out medicine cabinet, mopped K's room, sorted more stuff. 1945. Stayed home except shopping at Sunshine Market, & at new Fairfax Market. Baked apricot upside down cake, sewed on Janice's dress, but lack red zipper on it. K. was witness to a negro assault on white woman in eve & was at police court till past midnight. 50° 1946 Cooler, but was comfortable in suit. Church; continued to work on tree & poetry scrapbooks in P.M. Nap. Wrote letters. Saw magnolia nearly out. Mr & Mrs Bill Curtis & Mrs. McIntyre called.
