MARCH 13 1942. Signe came out on 9 o'clock bus to Branch. I baked bread and cookies, cleaned, hung blue curtain in upstairs hall. Walked to Hazel's to confer on play; at Roberts'. Sig planned garden in eve. 1943. Walked to mailbox twice. Still thawing. Baked bread & cookies. Slept till 8 —after getting Frank off at 5:30. After Frank came home from work he & I met Hans at 4. Saw Sig at 215 N Orchard. Played whist & 500 with J. Miller. Helped Hans study Danish. 1944. Mopped sunroom. Baked bread K mixed. Dr. Muehlmeier filled a tooth 9-10. Mrs. Shaffer came for old mattress, etc. Took K & dresser, floor lamp, etc in at 4, del. 7 cases honey (Frank's last) then went to Frank Bliss' for 6 o'clock dinner. Called at Roberts'. 59° 1945 Awake from 4:30, & didn't feel good all day. Hung wash for Kathryn. Baked bread, got off Wis. income tax (for 80 days). 72° 1946. Sent in $536.10 income tax for '45 (War Dept. had not withheld any while Hans was in Europe). Also estimate for 1946. (UNRRA is withholding). Finished tree scrapbook—but not all my material! Mrs. McIntyre called. Packed away some of Hans' things in his leather suitcase. Sat out in sun a while.
