MARCH 17 1942 High wind. Took Frank to school - he had forgotten rubbers - Ironed curtains, baked cake. Walked to last "Happy Hour" at Radermacher's new home. Rated 3" score 2010. Wrote Hans - Card from him, to go to Mich. this week. 1943. More very high wind + cold. Frank still home with cold. I did huge washing - inc - 44 hdkfs. 20 prs. hose, etc. Took nap. Got 7 + wrote it. Crocheted on rug. 1944. Melba has boy. Francis has girl, Janice Marie. Mrs. Davis helped me by packing dishes. I hired Mrs. Shaffer to clean floors, etc. We all, inc. K. had chicken pie supper at Zentner's. Kathryn stayed over to help me. 87° 1945 Another warm day. Sent Signe the cartoon book shower cap + hairnets. K. got F.P. Adams' "Nods & Becks" for her. I baked bread + gingerbread. Too hot to work. Wrote letters. 48° 1946 The car wouldn't start. So I went to church on bus, walked home as far as Esso station, then on bus as it began raining. Wrote Hans poa dansk. At 6 Paul Pownall, Jo + Kenneth Koch, Herbert P. + Kennie Taylor surprised me. Had buffet supper: tomato juice scrambled eggs, salmon, crax, pickles, ice cream with pineapple, cookies, cocoa
