APRIL 6 1942. Awake some. Drove to Madison for Mrs. Nellie May Argue + Miss Adams. Mrs. Vaughn could not go. To Lodi for WSCS. Had charge of 1:30 devotionals, with Mrs. Joos at organ + 7 women helping. Was an election teller- got 20 votes as delegate to Assembly! Mrs. Hughes 49, Mrs Kuesell 6. 1943. Awoke 5:15. Baked bread, + 5 doz. corn flakes cookies for U.S.O. Took them + 4H cook[ies?] in when I went in to Woman's Club. Re-elect pres. Prof. Moore "Home Beautification" 15 at 4H Club. Delores M + Jane dem. Standar[d?] Measures + K. Gadgets. Elected officers. 1944. Got up at 5. Helped Hans load bed + mattress etc. Mrs. Cotton gave us breakfast. Finally moved into Apt. 2, 1403, Alex-Va. Hilda came + helped. We got her floor lamps and sewing machine. I shopped in Alex - got glass washboard, leaned cupboards, etc. 35° 58° 1945. Finished reading "The Immortal Wife." Had sore throat - used aspirin gargle. Began U.S.D.A. Graduate school course "Current Books" by Mary Carter Roberts. 1946. Awake from 4 at Gilliam's. Wonderful azaleas + dogwood there. After breakfast, drove home, got registered letter from Hans, Shanghai. Jay W. helped load my stuff in car. We drove to Arlington + got tire! Went to Hot Shoppe for lunch. Sold dresser Mrs. Naberg bot mattress - and I slept on it all night with her - 8 hrs!
