APRIL 7 1942. Baked cookies, laundered my high school graduation dress - and wore it to Woman's Club Hobby show. Exhibited my book of original poems + "Rural Comments". Sig got award on her postmark collection. We served more than 100. Wrote Dora. Got 7 [circle] elected delegate to district Woman's Club. 1943. Shoulders ached with first rheumatism for weeks. Raked iris + had some bonfires. Wrote Hans. 1944. Feel like working after sleeping on good bed again. Put papers on closet + cupboard shelves, unpacked dishes Bought ironing board, dishpan, etc. in Alex. Gas connected. Met Hans at 6 by Potomac + we got rest of our things + dresser from Cotton's, which we put in Apt. thru window. 36° 63° 1945 Throat almost cured with aspiring gargle. Drove to bank, library, + Sunshine Market. To tea at Mrs. Councilor, 113 S. Lee St. 4-6. House built by Laurence Washington 1750. Brot home Mrs. Timmerholm, Riverside. 1946 Cleaned out rest of Apt. 2, 1403 Mt. Vernon Blvd. Baked fruit cakes for girls in A.M. To church + home with Gilliam's for dinner. Grace + Kirk came in P.M. got red chair, wardrobe, 3 chairs, cardtable, dinette set, etc. Saved the day for me! Now I can leave! At Gilliam's late
