April 11 1942. Very windy. I baked bread, house cleaned Frank's room. Signe baked cake + cookies + did cleaning. We started lavender rug- cotton crocheted for her. Tried. 3 kids went to Madison in eve. Sig back to dorm. 1943. Baked apricot upside down cake, + roasted ham + potatoes while I went to S.S. downstairs in church. 40- I had to have charge. Took nap. My 11 foods boys + girls here for waffle supper- wieners, salad. They played Victory Bingo + table football. [Shower?] Hans' plans changed. 1944. More washing, then walked to Alex. Couldn't get car license. Got a week's Cap-Times! Hung curtains in bedroom, started cleaning out desk. In eve we worked on danish article on Lt. Hoogland. 1945. Sewed some. baked upside down dried apricot cake. Kathryn + I walked to Baptist church in eve, where Rev. Abernathy preached. "not substitute- but a regular pane." 29° 1946. Quite cool + cloudy. Left Waverly, Ohio at 8:30 A.M. Got to Paul Pownall's just as they were ready to eat lunch. They were moving out furniture to store. Saw Herbert's snaps in color he took in D.C. + Mt. Vernon. Mine not good. Drove to Lafayette in 3 hrs, but last 30 mi or more in snow. So bad I quit at stayed in a tourist home, after 5. Wrote letters.
