1942. Was S.S. Supv. Only 66. Hans' phoned me from Birmingham, Ala. First white narcissus out. Took Mr + Mrs Kirkpatrick to discussion on economic phase of peace at First M. church.
1943 7 for breakfast- from 5 to 10 AM! Signe came home on 9:30 bus- she began Amanda's needlepoint. I had headache, was afraid I was getting the flu, but guess not. Hans + I bridge grafted a tree. Frank + I won 2 out of 3 games of 500 vs. Hans + Zillie.
84° 1944. Up at 6:30 instead of usual 7:00. Planted limas, wrote K. Cut out thin dress- got mail at 5 at Alex, then went in to meet Hans. We ate basket supper in W. monument park; took sheet to Hilda's. Took dansk lesson. Got MTT's at Cotton's Tired.
48° 53° 1945. A rainy day. Made blouse for Bobby Bolin from blue shirt of Hans'. Copied out play "24 hours a Day" for MS to keep. Read in "I Chose Denmark."
1946. Awoke at 3- breaking my better sleeping habits since I left East. Wrote Kathryn, then went back to bed + slept till 7. Baked bread + rolls. Cut out my navy wool blouse. Avis MacLean called to tell me they want Hans' German pictures Monday eve at Comm. church. To Middleton; started unpacking trunk.
