May 10 K phoned me. Said to be a light frost. 1942. Slept 10 hours- till 7:30. Made salad + shortcake + put chicken to roast. 87 at S.S. 15 in my class. Got nosegays of lilac + white lilacs. Mr. + Mrs. Zillier came for dinner + took Julia with them to Elkhart Lake. Set out 30 asters + 28 ageratum. Bernard Hahn here for supper. 1943. Left at 8:30- left car at Verona, rode with Rev. Duden of Oregon, Mrs. Vaughn, Mrs. Hirst, Miss Myers for Livingston. Had morning + P.M. devotions. We rode with Rev. Davis to Dodgeville, ate supper in Hotel. Bus to Verona- Home at 8. K home with a cold. 2 pr. hose from Hilda. 1944. Hans home in bed nearly all day. I baked bread, revarnished bookcase, + read 2 chaps. in [Dauby?] Folk. We drove to Hilda's then to Fru Hansen's. Home at 10. 54° 61° 1945. Rainy K + I washed + hung in basement. Mother's Day poem from Sig, note + card from Elsie. Made fifth Danish blouse. Wrote 7 circle letter, etc. 1946. Pauline + I went to Quisling Clinic- she found she has high blood pressure. I had check-up + got phenylbarbs. a year's supply or more. Sewed. Mrs. Kirkpatrick + I drove to Russell Clemans to see A. June Day, very sick. Trousdale Rev. Willet also came. Rainy. Frank phoned from Camp McCoy in eve. Kathryn came, surprising me.
